ISIS beheads two women in Syria

BEIRUT: The Islamic State (IS) group has beheaded two women in Syria on accusations of “sorcery,” the first such execution of women in Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor said Tuesday.
“The Islamic State group executed two women by beheading them in Deir Ezzor province, and this is the first time the Observatory has documented women being killed by the group in this manner,” Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.
The Britain-based monitor said the executions took place on Monday and Sunday and involved two couples. In both cases, the women were executed with their husbands, with each pair accused of “witchcraft and sorcery”.
The Islamic State group has become infamous for gruesome executions and is reported to have stoned women to death on allegations of adultery. But the Observatory said this was the first time it was aware of the group beheading women.
According to the monitor, IS has executed more than 3,000 people in Syria in the year since it declared its Islamic “caliphate” in Syria and Iraq. Nearly 1,800 of them were civilians, including 74 children.
The group claimed an attack on two Houthi rebel leaders in Sanaa on Monday night that medics said had killed at least 28 people, including eight women.
The car bomb targeted Houthi rebel chief brothers Faysal and Hamid Jayache during a gathering to mourn the death of a family member, a security source said.
The jihadist group, which marked the first anniversary of the declaration of its “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria on Monday, has been ramping up its deadly campaign in Yemen since March.

Ravinder Kaushik, The Indian RAW Agent Who Served As A Major In The Pakistan Army

Ravinder Kaushik was born in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan in 1952 to a Punjabi family. He was just a teenager who loved performing theater when he was spotted by India’s external intelligence agency, RAW. Nothing much is clear as to what happened in between his first contact with the RAW personnel during the national drama presentation and his graduation in 1975. Ravinder Kaushik joined the intelligence agency after graduating and little did he know that it would turn out to be a life-altering decision.
Fast forward to November 2001 in Pakistan where a certain Nabi Ahmed suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis and heart disease takes his final breath on his deathbed while ensuring a secret passage for the last of the letters he would write to his mother. This was not a hassle for him; passing on secret texts and document across the border, it is what he had been trained for thirty years ago when he first started training as an undercover agent for India.
Ravinder Kaushik or Nabi Ahmed was India’s best spy to ever penetrate the rank and profile of the Pakistan army. He went undercover at an age of 23 after being recruited by RAW. During his training in Delhi he learned Urdu, got acquainted with the muslim religious texts, the topography in Pakistan and underwent circumcision. When he was sent to Pakistan in 1975, all his records in India were destroyed and he was given a new identity of Nabi Ahmed Shakir. Nabi Ahmed now started his LLB in Karachi University to create a perfect back story and join the Pakistan army.
He was commissioned in the Pakistan Army and soon promoted to the rank of Major. During that time he converted to Islam and married a local girl Amanat, fathering a son with her. From 1979 to 1983 he passes on critical information to the Indian defense forces which were of great help. Because of the valuable information being sent by Nabi Ahmed he became famous as ‘The Black Tiger’ in Indian defense circles, a name conferred  by the then prime minister Indira Gandhi herself.
In 1983, Inyat Masiha was sent by RAW to get in touch with Nabi Ahmed. He was caught by Pakistani intelligence agencies and tortured to reveal Nabi Ahmed’s true identity. The cover now blown by the Pakistani intelligence agencies, Ravinder Kaushik was tortured for two years before being sentenced to death in 1985. His death sentence was later changed to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court.
Kaushik spent the last 16 years of his glorious life in various jails including Mianwali and Sialkot. Due to the poor facilities in the Pakistani jails, he contracted Asthma and TB which turned fatal. After enduring extreme trauma he finally succumbed to a heart disease in the New Central Multan Jail. The finest Indian spy is still buried today behind that jail.
His life still inspires a lot of young RAW officers and he is still remembered as India’s finest intelligence agent who never gave up serving his country in his death. Ravinder Kaushik will always be a true Indian soldier who gave his life without ever asking for any acknowledgement. We salute the great Indian warrior – The Black Tiger!

16 Things You Should Know About India’s Soldiers Defending Siachen

The highest combat zone on planet earth, Siachen glacier is one place where fewer soldiers have died on the line duty due to enemy fire than because of the harsh weather conditions.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
For Indian forces deployed in Siachen, it is less of a challenge to watch out for the frail Pakistani forces but to just stay atop this 76 kilometers long glacier at 5, 400 meters altitude (nearly twice the altitude of Ladakh and Kargil) in itself means you have to defy all of your physical, mental and spiritual limits.
You have to be a super soldier, a hero.
And that’s what each one of our soldiers out there at Siachen glacier and on posts at even greater heights really is!

1. In Siachen, you are at the risk of getting a deadly frostbite if your bare skin touches steel (gun trigger, for example) for just over fifteen seconds.

Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
Merely touching the trigger or gun barrel with bare hands can be a mistake big enough to result in loss of toes or fingers.
For those who don’t know about frostbite – it’s a condition resulting from abrupt exposure to extreme cold that can leave amputation of fingers or toes as the only alternative. In extreme cases, these organs may just fall off.

2. Mountain climbers climb when the weather is at its best; soldiers serve in these treacherous terrains all year round.

Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
Minus 60 degrees temperature and over 5,000 meters altitude; low atmospheric pressure and oxygen, well, you keep asking for more of it. There’s 10% of the amount of oxygen available in Siachen than it is in plains.
It’s the weather of the kind that us mortals aren’t simply designed to bear. Not for long and not without the great risk of losing eyes, hands or legs. But these men – they do it, every day.
Because every inch of this land belongs to India and they shall not cede it to some untrustworthy neighbors who no longer have a higher ground in Siachen.

3. The human body just cannot acclimatize over 5,400 meters

When you stay at that altitude for long, you lose your weight, don’t feel like eating, sleep disorders come around in no time and memory loss – that’s a common occurrence. Put simply, the body begins to deteriorate. That’s what happens at Siachen.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
Yes, it is tough. But we cannot climb down because we cannot let the Pakistani Army climb up and take high ground.

4. Speech blurring is as obvious as toothpaste freezing in the tube

It’s fiercer than heaviest of gunfire any day. But our soldiers have taken up the challenge nonetheless.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen

5. Snowstorms in Siachen can last 3 weeks.

Winds here can cross the 100 mph limit in no time. The temperature can drop well below minus 60 degrees.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen

6. Yearly snowfall in Siachen can be well over 3 dozen feet

When snow storms come around, at least two to three soldiers have to keep using shovels (in snow storm). Else, the military post would become a history; in no time.

7. The 7th Pay commission may consider the unique challenges faced by the army jawans who man the territory all through the year.

They should.

The forward areas in Jammu and Kashmir including Siachen were visited by the 7th Pay Commission in October, 2014.

8. Soldiers find ways to entertain themselves when they can.

Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
We are, after all, a cricket crazy nation.

9. Fresh food – that’s rare. Very rare. At Siachen, an orange or an apple can freeze to the hardness of a cricket ball in no time.

Rations come out of tin cans.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen

10. Army pilots literally push their helicopters well beyond their optimal performance, every day!

They drop supplies at forward posts located at an altitude of more than 20 thousand feet.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
Army pilots usually have less than a minute for dropping off the supplies at forward posts.
Pakistani army is merely few hundred meters away and so the choppers must fly off before the enemy guns open up.

11. In the last 30 years, 846 soldiers have sacrificed their lives at Siachen.

In case of Siachen, deaths due to extreme climate and beyond-imagination terrain conditions are treated as battle causalities and rightly so.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
In last three years alone, 50 Indian soldiers have died in Siachen. These causalities as per the information made available by Defense Minister in Lok Sabha, were due to the very nature of the place our forces are serving. These soldiers sacrificed their lives on the line of duty while combating the floods, avalanches and floods in Siachen.
Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen
The Body of Havaldar Gaya Prasad from 15 Rajput Battalion serving in Siachen was found after 18 long years.

12. A War Memorial at the Bank of Nubra River has the names of Indian soldiers who laid their lives in Siachen.

Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen

13. Local saying: “The land is so barren and the passes so high that only the best of friends and fiercest of enemies come by.’

Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen

14. In Siachen, the Indian Army spends as much as 80% of its time preparing soldiers of deployment.

Things We Indians Should Know About the Life of Soldiers Defending Siachen

15. “We do the difficult as a routine. The impossible may take a little longer”

— So reads a plaque at the headquarters of the Indian Army formation responsible for security of the Siachen sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

Satnam Singh becomes first Indian to make it to NBA

Satnam Singh becomes first Indian to make it to NBA

NEW DELHI: India's Satnam Singh Bhamara is hoping his historic selection in the NBA will kickstart a basketball boom in his cricket-obsessed home country.
The 19-year-old centre admitted he was incredibly nervous in the run up to the NBA Draft, which saw him become the first India-born selection when he was chosen by the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday.
“Forget about sleep, I haven't eaten even a morsel. I was certainly hopeful after coming this far but there is always a big if,” said Bhamara, who hails from a family of farmers.
The 7-foot-2-inch (2.18m) Bhamara, originally from a village in northern Punjab state, is hoping he can generate enthusiasm for the sport in India -- in much the same way that superstar Yao Ming sparked a basketball frenzy in China.
“I feel that my entry will certainly open the doors for many aspiring basketballers in India to dream big,” Bhamara speaking from the US during a conference call with a handful of Indian journalists.
“At least there is now someone with whom the youngsters back home can identify. A new road has opened up for them,” he said during the call, a recording of which was released to the wider media.
Bhamara, who moved to the US in 2010 to train in Florida, became the first player in a decade taken by an NBA team after not playing for a US college or overseas pro team. He instead played for the IMG Academy squad.
The NBA has been forging ahead with plans to promote the game globally, hoping that India will be the next Asian power seduced by the sport after already captivating China.
The NBA opened an office in Mumbai in 2011, part of an international operation that has spread around the world.
In April, Canada's Indian-origin player Sim Bhullar turned out for the Sacramento Kings, becoming the first player of Indian descent to score in the NBA.
Bhamara's drafting was trending on Twitter in India on Friday with Bollywood celebrities among the first to congratulate him.
“Keep on shining. Had met him last year, what an inspiration,” actor Akshay Kumar said.

An advertisement released by Government of Karnataka in a Malaysian newspaper where JAMMU AND KASHMIR  and NORTH-EAST was missing. Its a major Faux pas as newspaper showed a distorted map of INDIA.
This mistake was pointed out by the OPPOSITION PARTY BJP, and called it a major lapse by the CONGRESS GOVERNMENT and asked the tourism department of Karnataka to shred light over it and explain.
The government, however, washed its hands off the controversy, saying it was not responsible since the ads were released by agencies contracted for the event in Malaysia.

Jawaharlal Nehru Lied To Stop Rajendra Prasad From Becoming President, Alleges Book

Patel, who was in Bombay, was surprised to learn of the contents of Nehru's letter because Nehru and him had never discussed whether Rajaji or Rajendra Prasad should be the president.
A new book has claimed that Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, lied, to stop Rajendra Prasad from becoming the President, after India’s independence. The book is written by former intelligence officer, RNP Singh.
The book says “Nehru had resorted to desperate measures to prevent Prasad from occupying the position of President and these measures included blatant lying.” The book, titled Nehru: A Troubled Legacy, includes letters written by the Father of the nation, Mahatama Gandhi, Nehru and other famous Indian personalities.
Singh quotes official records to reveal that Nehru, on September 10, 1949, wrote to Rajendra Prasad, saying that, he(Nehru) and Sardar Patel had decided that “the safest and best course” would be to have C Rajagopalachari, as the first President of India.
Since this ran contrary to his understanding of the situation, including the opinion of Sardar Patel and most members of the Constituent Assembly, Rajendra Prasad expressed the next day his deep disappointment and hurt at the way Nehru had dealt with him. Rajendra Prasad marked a copy of this letter to Sardar Patel.
Patel, who was in Bombay, was surprised to learn of the contents of Nehru’s letter, because Nehru and him had never discussed whether Rajaji or Rajendra Prasad, should be the president. Nor had he and Nehru concurred that Rajaji would be their choice.

PYRAMID spotted on Mars by NASA'S Curiosity Rover

PYRAMID spotted on Mars by NASA'S Curiosity Rover.

Does it proves , there was an ancient civilization on mars ?

Nasa's Curiosity Rover has captured images of a perfectly formed pyramid on Mars and conspiracy theorists reckon it's proof of an alien civilization.
The pyramid is thought to be about the size of a car, and most people believe it's nothing more than a coincidental rock formation.
However, the YouTube channel ParanormalCrucible goes further, insisting the "near perfect design and shape" means the pyramid is: "the result of intelligent design and certainly not a trick of light and shadow".
Other outlandish theories suggest the pyramid is simply the tip of a larger structure buried underground.
Some viewers pointed out that the mysterious pyramid could have been formed by wind.
This isn't the first time that conspiracy fans have seized on images from Mars as evidence that not all is what it seems.
Earlier this year pictures emerged reportedly showing a mushroom cloud and the shadow of a workman on the Red Planet.

'Sikh For Justice' Facebook Page blocked in India

NEW YORK: A Sikh rights group here has alleged its Facebook page in India has been blocked in retaliation for its call to hold a referendum for "independence" of Punjab.

Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) said its Facebook page had more than 85,000 followers and cannot be accessed by the internet users in India.
SFJ claims that it called for boycott of Air India to highlight the dictatorial action of Modi Government to block the democratic campaign of SFJ to hold referendum in the state of Punjab.
To adversely affect the usage of Air India by the Sikh community, on May 12, SFJ launched an online campaign “Say NO Air India, YES to Punjab Independence Referendum”. The campaign urges the community to denounce blocking of SFJ’s Facebook Page; declare that Sikhs have a right to hold Punjab Independence Referendum and pledge not to travel by Air India.
The Sikh rights group plans to reach out to every Sikh household in North America through social media and local Gurdwaras. SFJ volunteers will be setting up “No To Air India” camps at Gurdwaras urging the community to sign the pledge boycotting India’s national airline during the upcoming busy travel season.
Advocating to banish Air India, attorney Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, legal advisor to SFJ stated that “every dictatorial action of Modi Government will be challenged through equally strong but legal, peaceful and democratic action”. “Our campaign is aimed at mounting pressure on India into holding Punjab Independence Referendum under UN Charter”, added attorney Pannun.
SFJ has given a call to hold a referendum in the year 2020 on the question of Sikh sovereignty. Referendum 2020 will be held in the state of Punjab and among Sikh diaspora living in America, Canada, United Kingdom, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Middle Eastern Countries.

REALITY OF KOHINOOR :: KOHINOOR the property of sikhs

Kohi-Noor of Sikhs

In response to a report on BBC NEWS dated 29th July 2010, David Cameron(British PM on visit to India) has rejected calls for the famous Koh-i-Noor diamond, which has been part of the Crown Jewels for 150 years, to be returned to India.
I better warn the British Government that in case this precious diamond is ever returned , then it has to be returned to Darbar Sahib or Golden temple, Amritsar (Punjab), not to government of India because it was never a state property

Though it was confiscated by Lord Dalhusie as he claims but actually Lord Dalhousie duped the child king which is discussed here and some honest British person like John Sullivan questioned the British Empire in July 1850.

Kohi-Noor is the property of Sikhs only, not of government of India.

But historian Dr Anna Keay told the BBC that since its creation, the diamond had had many different owners, being in Persian and Afghan as well as Indian hands.

"The crucial thing is this diamond has been in circulation certainly since the beginning of the 16th Century during which time it has been in the hands of whole sequence of different rulers," told Radio 4's Today programme.

"The question is to which point do you take it back."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-10802469

So the detailed information is being given to her that, how Maharaja Ranjit Singh was presented this precious diamond, The Shah in a ceremonial manner, handed over the most precious diamond in the world, to the Maharaja.
Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji
Acquisition of Kohi-Noor by Ranjit Singh and Dalhosie;

As the precious diamond Kohinoor is now the property of Queen of England but whether she is the real owner of that precious jewel? No – She is not. It was dubiously taken from the child king Duleep Singh by a conspiracy of the conman Lord Dalhousie.

So I am giving the proves of malicious moves of Lord Dalhousie to dupe the child king and to take away the diamond and give it in the name of surrender whereas in the treaty with Lahore Darbar, this precious jewel was declared/ accepted as the property of Maharaja and his family. The British had no right to confiscate it by conspiracy and to adorn in the crown. Neither it was taken as a booty nor it was taken honorably but by jeopardize in faith of their friend, after his death.

Several accounts have been given regarding the manner of it’s possession with Maharaja Ranjit Singh. The nearest truth is narrated by Sayyad Faqir Waheed-ud-deen in his “Real Ranjit Singh. New Delhi, pp-87-90”’ as the same is based on his familyrecords , an extremely authentic source. He writes, “In 1812, Shah Shuja, a former king of Kabul, was prisoner of Ata Mohd., the Governor of Kashmir. Wazir Fateh Khan of Kabul was planning of invasion of Kashmir. Wafa Begum wife of Shah Shuja, who was then residing at Lahore, under protection of Maharaja Ranjit singh, feared that Shuja, might be murdered, in case Fatheh Khan was able to conquer Kashmir.

She promised KOHI-NOOR to Ranjit Singh as a reward, if Shuja could be united to family, at Lahore. On the other hand, Fateh Khan promised Rupees Nine Lacs in cash and half the loot, if Ranjit Singh helped him conquer Kashmir.

Both the offers were good and did not clash with each other. These were therefore accepted.

The Sikh general Dewan Mohkam Chand, ensured safety of Shah Shuja by employing utmost tact and ability and brought him back to Lahore thus fulfilling the Darbar’s part of the deal. But Shah Shuja and Wafa Begum began dallying dallying. Ranjit Singh then sent an offer of Rs. 3 Lacs and an annual Jagir of 50,000/- Rs., for the family. This was accepted by the Shah, but prayed for fifty day’s time which was granted.

On its expiry the Shah decided to handover the Kohi-Noor, if Maharaja comes in person to receive it.

This was agreed to.

The Shah in a ceremonial manner, handed over the most precious diamond in the world, to the Maharaja. The episode closed with an exchange of presents and robes of honor.

The Maharaja himself escorted the Shah to his harem.

Lord Dalhousie was no less anxious for the acquisition of the KOHI-NOOR than the conquest of the kingdom of Punjab. He wrote to Sir Henry Lawrence, then Resident at Lahore, “ to make every disposition for the safe custody of the State Jewels which were about to fall in the lap of English….It had, in fact, been found more than once on the enrollment of some new province in our Empire, which, whether by cession, by lapse or forcible annexation was growing, or about to grow, so rapidly, that the State Jewels or money had a knack of disappearing. Great care was therefore, needful, as among the Punjab jewels was the matchless Kohi-Noor, which it was intended should be expressly surrendered by Maharaja to the English Queen.
Maharaja Duleep Singh-the duped king.

CONFISCATION OF LAHORE TOSHAKHANA ;

The first important act of Lord Dalhousie, after annexation was the confiscation of property in the Lahore Toshakhana. In addition to jewels and treasurers in gold, silver and precious stones, dishes, plates, cups, cooking pots, many valuable curiosities and relics of all kinds and vast store of Kashmir shawls, choghas, etc., and the swords of Persian hero Rustam and Wazir Fateh Khan Barkzai of Kabul and the wedding garments of Sardar Maha Singh, father of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, there were ;

(a)- The Kalgi or Plume of Guru Gobind Singh,

(b)- The Kohi-Noor diamond,

(c)- Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s golden chair, silver summer- house, gold and silver poled tents and equipage of rich Cashmere and his magnificent arms and armor.

(d)- Shah Shuja’s pavilion, gorgeously embroidered.
(Sir John and Maharaja Duleep Singh, pp. 182-83).

On November 28, 1849, Lord Dalhousie inspected the Tosha-khannah articles and decided not only on the sale of the most of the property but also on the removal of certain valuables to England for presentation to the Queen and for preservation in official museum there.

The child Maharaja was allowed to take with him only a very small part of his things to Fatehgarh in the United Province (UP), where he was removed in February 1850, when he was away from his State of Punjab.

The treaty of 1849 (Annexation) declared that all property of the State of Lahore shall be confiscated. Article 3 of the same Treaty treats the Kohi-Noor as the private property of the Maharaja, for by it, the Maharaja is made to surrender the Kohi-Noor to the Queen of England-showing that it was not amongst the property confiscated in Article-2; and the same character holds good as to the other jewels derived from Shah Shuja, for an emerald with Ahmad Shah’s name engraved upon it, and a saddle pommel made of a single emerald, both from this source, were included among the articles which the Maharaja was allowed to retain at the annexation as his private property.

Thus it was unjustifiable to characterize the property contained in the catalogues as having been confiscated by the treaty of Lahore.

Dr. login, who was appointed Maharaja’s tutor and superintendent, describes the handing over of the Kohi-Noor to Dalhousie, in a letter to his wife, then in England, Lord Dalhousie came to my quarters before he left Lahore, bringing with him a small bag, made by Lady Dalhousie to hold the jewel; and after I had formally made it over to him, he went into my room and fastened it round his waist, under his clothes, in my presence. Lord Dalhousie himself wrote out the formal receipt for the jewel, and there my responsibility ended, and I felt it a great load taken off me. All the members of the Board of Administration were present, and countersigned the document. The other jewels were also sealed up and made over.(Lady Login, Lady Login's recollections, Language department Punjab, 1970, p.81)

Thus, we have seen how the eleven year old Maharaja Duleep Singh was innocently duped and deprived, not only of his kingdom but also of such national and personal unique marvels as the Kalgi of Guru Gobind Singh, the matchless jewel Kohi-Noor and even the wedding garments of his grand father, the great Sardar Mahan Singh.

How the British says that the Sikhs have no right on Kohi-Noor?

It was taken in a forceful manner by duping the treaty and jeopardized the faith of a friend who was no more-the Maharaja Ranjit Singh. After the death of their friend Maharaja Ranjit Singh, it was the duty of British Empire to take care of the child King and his property but he was forced to deprive of, not only of his Empire but of his valuables assets also.

The British even took away his cooking pots and utensils, either sold them or taken away to the kitchen of Queen as she had not enough.

It is very clear here mentioned within the Treaty that the, The treaty of 1849 (Annexation) declared that all property of the State of Lahore shall be confiscated. Article 3 of the same Treaty treats the Kohi-Noor as the private property of the Maharaja.

When a clause as Article 3, was already included to the effect that the British could not confiscate the personal property of the late King, how could Dalhousie take it from the child king? Is it justifiable?

The Kohi-Noor, though was offered by Wafa Begum, the wife of Shah Shuja herself to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, ‘If’ (conditionally) brings back her husband Shah Shuja safely, who was in prison of Ata Mohd., the Governor of Kashmir.Dewan Mohkam Chand ensured safety of Shah Shuja, who brought him back to Lahore. Even then after his release Maharaja pays him Three lacs of Rupees and a Jagir of 50,000/- Rs., even then the Shah Shuja was not forced to handover the Kohi-Noor to Maharaja but granted a time period of 50 days. After expiry of the period, Shah Shuja, handed over the most precious jewel of the world in a ceremonial manner and with the exchange of presents and robes of honor.
To prove the claim of Sikhs on Kohi-Noor........
An article was published in Times news paper in london before the ceremony of the contempl;ate it the Kohi-Noor to Her Majesty, in which the honest British people honestly condemned Britishh empire as;

some exracts from a lengthy communication dated July 1850, to Sir john Hobhouse, then Head of India Office in London, by John Sullivan, under the caption
‘The Kohi-Noor, to whom does it belong?

(Ed. Ganda Singh, The Punjab past and present, Vol IV, Part-I, Serial no. 7, April 1970,pp.109-55)

It reads , “By to-day’s” Times” I see that the great Diamond, the Koh-i-Noor, or Mountain of Light”, has been brought to this country, and that it is contemplation it to Her Majesty. It will be literally “the brightest Jewel” in her crown, and will aptly symbolize that great empire of which she is the head; but before you recommend Her Majesty to place it there, it may be prudent to ascertain whose property it is.”

The precious gem was the property of Duleep Singh, the young Rajah of Lahore, with whom, in March 1946, we concluded a treaty of “Perpetual peace and friendship,” but from whom on the 29th March 1849, we took his territory. Declaring it henceforth to be a portion “of the British Empire in India”. What then had the young Rajah done in this short interval to bring down such a heavy visitation upon him ?’

Further he writes, “ Though the state of Lahore had remained faithful to its engagements with the British Governments, the Government had violated its own engagements with the Lahore state.

I conclude this long story with an answer to the question on the title page, “ To whom does the Kohi-Noor belong ?”

“The Kohi-Noor,” therefore, in the opinion of the Governor-General did not form part of the property of the State. He might have made it such if he had pleased—but he failed to do so. He had no more right, therefore, I humbly venture to say, to compel his ward, the Maharaja of Lahore, to surrender the Kohi-Noor to the Queen of England, than Ranjit Singh had to extort it from Shah Shuja,”

(Perhaps Mr. John Sullivan, then, did not have the correct account of Shah Shuja’s handing over of the Kohi-Noor to Ranjit Singh as a token of gratitude, for having him released from the custody of Atta Mohammad, Governor-General of Kashmir, which Wazir Fateh Khan of Kabul, an inveterate enemy of the Shah and his family, then residing under protection of Ranjit Singh at Lahore).

(I am thankful to Sardar Karnail Singh, for his splendid work in presenting the treasure on betrayl of British with his late friend after his death and confiscation of his property and personal valuables from the minor son of their friend, reveals the treachery and the jeopardize in faith, for which, History shall never excuse them).

The contents of this blog are taken from "ANGLO-SIKH WARS" written by Karnail Singh ji and published by SGPC, Sri Amritsar., to prove that Kohi-Noor belongs to Sikhs, though it adorns the crown of Queen of England.
